Terms of Use

Effective October 22, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Tells ("we", "us") for the Tells app and this website. By using Tells, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Tells.

Who can use Tells

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission. You are responsible for your account and for keeping your Apple ID secure.

Subscriptions and free trials

  • Tells Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, offered weekly or yearly. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may vary by country.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends.
  • Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in iOS Settings, under your name, Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • If you buy a subscription during a free trial, any unused part of the trial ends.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

What Tells is, and isn't

Tells teaches ideas about psychology, persuasion and influence through stories and situations, for learning and self-improvement. It is not medical, psychological, legal or professional advice. Your Social IQ is a learning score inside the app, not a clinical or scientific measure. If you are in a harmful situation, please contact local support services.

Use it well

Use what you learn to understand people and protect yourself, not to harm them. You agree not to:

  • use Tells to harass, threaten, deceive, exploit or manipulate anyone;
  • choose a username that impersonates someone or is offensive;
  • copy, scrape, resell or redistribute Tells content;
  • reverse engineer the app, or interfere with or try to break its security.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

Our content

Tells, its stories, design and logo belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app for your own, non-commercial use. Content you add, like your name or photo, stays yours; you let us store and show it to run the service.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account anytime in the app: Profile, Settings, Delete account. This erases your data as described in our Privacy Policy. It does not cancel an Apple subscription; cancel that in iOS Settings.

Disclaimers

Tells is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, and we don't promise the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any outcome will result from using it.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on content in Tells. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Tells or its content, maintenance, support or any claims about it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. If Tells fails to meet any warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for important changes, let you know in the app. If you keep using Tells after a change, you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada, without regard to conflict of law rules. Nothing here limits rights you have under the consumer laws of where you live.
